How to export your 3D model to CAD (.dae / COLLADA)

Updated 2026-06-20how to export floor plan to CADfloor plan to DAE COLLADA exportexport 3D model to .daefloor plan to 3D for SketchUp

Once your 3D model looks right, you can take it out of Sketch2Space and into your own tools. Sketch2Space exports a .dae file (the COLLADA format), which opens in SketchUp, Blender, and most CAD and 3D software.

What you get#

The export is a standard .dae (COLLADA) 3D file containing your model's geometry — walls, rooms, openings, and stairs. Because it's an open format, you can import it into a wide range of tools without a converter.

Export step by step#

  1. Open your finished model in Sketch2Space.
  2. Go to the realistic (Final) view, where export lives.
  3. Click export to download the .dae file.
  4. Open the file in SketchUp, Blender, or your CAD tool of choice.

Opening the file#

  • SketchUp — use File → Import and choose the .dae (COLLADA) file.
  • Blender — use File → Import → Collada (.dae).
  • Other CAD tools — most support COLLADA import directly; check your software's import menu.

.dae (COLLADA) is an open, widely supported 3D format. If your tool doesn't list COLLADA, it can usually import a format you can convert .dae into. See the glossary for more.
