Support DWG & DWFX CAD Files

Updated 2026-07-25upload DWG to 3Dconvert DWG floor planDWFX to 3D modelAutoCAD floor plan to 3D

You can now upload AutoCAD DWG and DWFX drawings straight into Sketch2Space — no need to export them to an image or PDF first.

What shipped#

  • Direct CAD upload. On paid plans, drop a DWG or DWFX file into the upload area just like a JPG, PNG, or PDF.
  • Automatic conversion. We convert the drawing for you and run it through the same analysis that builds your 3D model — you don't do anything extra.
  • Your original is kept. The CAD file you uploaded is stored alongside the result.
  • Clear guidance for older files. A very old, pre-2011 binary DWF can't be read; you'll get a friendly message asking you to re-save it as DWFX or PDF.

Why it matters#

Architects and developers usually have the real drawing as a CAD file. Until now you had to export it to a PDF or image before uploading. Uploading the DWG or DWFX directly removes that step and keeps your workflow in one place. See how sketches become 3D models.

How to use it#

  1. Open a project and go to the upload area (see getting started).
  2. Drag in your .dwg or .dwfx file, or click to browse.
  3. Wait a moment while we convert and analyze it — your 3D model appears automatically.

CAD upload is included on paid plans. On the free plan you can still upload images and PDFs, so exporting your drawing to PDF is always an option.
