Add Flooring To Your 3D Floor Plan
Your model can now wear real floors. Switch the ground from the sketch to flooring and lay carpet, tile or hardwood room by room.
What shipped#
- A Sketch / Flooring switch. The bar above your model has a new two-sided switch. Sketch is still what you start on, with your drawing on the ground the way it has always been. Flooring covers the house in real floors instead.
- Carpet, tile and hardwood. Pick one in the Flooring box at the top of the furniture panel, then click the rooms you want it on. It stays picked, so a kitchen, a hall and a landing take one pick and three clicks.
- Different floors in one open space. A kitchen and living room sharing one room can have two floors. Click a floor, press Add area, and a second patch of flooring appears inside it with its own covering.
- Floors you can reshape. The shape traced from your drawing is a starting point, not the last word. Press Reshape on a floor and drag its corners to where the floor really is. Add a corner on any edge, remove one you don't want, or drag the whole floor somewhere else. Any number of corners, any angles.
- Sizes as you go. Clicking a floor shows its edge lengths and area, and they follow a corner while you drag it.
- Your garden stays a garden. Flooring goes inside the house only. Terraces, pool surrounds and fenced areas keep the drawing underneath, and a plan with a detached wing or an annexe gets floors in every part of it.
Why it matters#
A model with bare floors reads as a drawing. A model with flooring reads as a home, which is the difference between showing a client what they asked for and showing them what it will feel like. Because you shape each floor yourself, a room whose walls the plan drew loosely still gets a floor that lands where it should. See how a drawing becomes a model in convert a sketch to 3D.
How to use it#
- Open your model and press Flooring in the bar above it.
- Open the furniture panel. In the Flooring box, pick carpet, tile or hardwood.
- Click the rooms you want covered. Press the same covering again, or press Escape, to put it down.
- To change a floor's shape, click it, press Reshape, and drag its corners. The plus buttons on each edge add a corner; tapping a corner offers to remove it.
- To split one open space, click its floor and press Add area.
Everything else about editing works as it always did — see edit your 3D model.
What it costs#
Tile is free for everyone. Carpet and hardwood are paid:
- Ex10ded includes flooring on every floor plan you own.
- 5 as you go sells flooring for one floor plan at $5, paid once. You choose which plan after you buy, and it stays unlocked for as long as that plan does.
See pricing for both.
FAQ#
Can I put different flooring in one open room?#
Yes. Click the floor, press Add area, and drag the new patch into shape. It has its own covering, so a kitchen and living room sharing one space can have two floors.
Does the flooring follow my drawing exactly?#
It starts from the room shape traced from your walls, which is usually right. Where it isn't, press Reshape and drag the corners to where the floor really is.
Does flooring come out in the CAD export?#
Not yet. The exported .dae file carries the shape of your model, not its materials. See export to CAD.
