Select an Area of the Sketch to Build in 3D

Updated 2026-07-26convert part of a floor plan to 3Dbuild one room from a floor planselect area of a sketchsketch to 3D model

You can now pick just one part of a sketch to build. Draw a box around it, and Sketch2Space builds only that area in 3D — the rest of the sketch is ignored.

What shipped#

  • Select an area. Use Select area to drag a box around the part you want — for example, just the kitchen on a large floor plan.
  • Build the box or the whole sketch. Choose Build this area for the box, or Build whole sketch for everything.
  • Re-mark any time. Not happy with the area? Draw a new box and build again.
  • A way out when a full sheet is rejected. If a busy sheet is too much to read all at once, you can mark the one part you care about instead of giving up.

Why it matters#

Big drawings often have more than you need — several floor plans on one sheet, a title block, notes, or a site map. Building the whole thing wastes time and can confuse the result. Picking just the part you want gives you a cleaner, more accurate 3D model of exactly the room or plan you care about. See how sketches become 3D models.

How to use it#

  1. Open a project and upload your sketch (see getting started).
  2. Click Select area and drag a box around the part you want to build.
  3. Click Build this area — your 3D model appears, built from just that box.
